As a mom, I love to find free resources for my children because let’s face it, with three kids activities can quickly become expensive when all of us attend. I would love to share some I have found over the years – here are 7 free resources for kids!
Dolly Parton Imagination Library
As a TN native myself, I absolutely adore Dolly Parton and all she does for her community. All three of my boys benefited from this through age five and we still have the books! I encourage every mom I know to check availability for them or their relatives as they are always adding more places. Reading is such a good learning activity, especially with family members.
Home Depot Children’s Workshop
Although not completely free, the kits are usually under $5 and are shipped free to your local Home Depot store.
Lego Newsletter
This magazine is available to kids ages 5-9 and my boys absolutely love getting mail. The magazine has fun activities and articles, not just Lego advertisements. The magazine is delivered quarterly to your home.
Library Card
The library has so many free events to participate in through the year! They have a monthly calendar that can be sorted by each branch as well as by age group. We love the summer reading program and all the coupons/perks at the end. There are even adult events like Books and Brews that just wrapped up.
Lowe’s Children’s Workshops
We used to do these before the pandemic, one weekend a month. During the pandemic, we would pick up the kits at customer service to do at home. There are now options to do in person or pickups still.
Pizza Hut Book It Program
I use this reading program during the summer to earn my boys free personal pizzas! Yes, just like when we were kids. They also offer a year-round program for homeschooled children.
Unite for Literacy
My kindergartener qualified for this free book service. It’s amazing and he receives five books a month in a small envelope that are also available on the website to anyone.
