Kid-Friendly DIY Night Light

0

My kids were watching me make bottle lights and asked if they could paint one, too. So, we decided to make night lights for their nightstands. They also came in handy when the power went out during a storm a few weeks ago. I hope since they created art that they will take care of them and last for years to come. All you need are a few supplies that you may have already on hand to make a kid-friendly DIY night light!

Supplies for a DIY Night Light

  1. Empty glass bottle (I prefer clear ones, but can they can be any type as long as the bottle light fits snugly like a wine cork)
  2. Spray paint (I use the frosted glass and clear acrylic)
  3. Acrylic paint (we like glow in the dark, too)
  4. Bottle light (I purchased from Amazon)

Directions for DIY Night Light

  1. Clean your bottle and remove the label, then let dry. Tip: Use rubbing alcohol and a magic eraser to remove the label with adhesive.
  2. Spray with frosted spray paint and let dry. This is optional, but I like having a “blank white canvas” per se for some of my other projects, which prompted this one. I am sure keeping the bottle clear would make a more stained glass effect and you could even use tape to section off each color.
  3. Apply acrylic paint and let dry. We love to use glow in the dark as well to add to the glow at night.
  4. Apply clear spray paint and let dry.
  5. Insert bottle light and enjoy your new light!
